YAYO: A lot of people only know you as “Brian” the nerdy Bassist from the tv-show “Gilmore Girls”. But you actually do a lot more than just acting. Can you tell us a bit about your worklife?JOHN: Sure. Well, it’s very different than it was 4 years ago during the height of the show, that’s for sure. I’ve found my work life shift very far into the area of writing and producing. I guess it started in 2006 when I began pitching a project that I would ultimately sell to Warner Brothers and spend 2 years developing with them. These days I spend a lot of time in front of the computer writing new stuff… or driving to pitch meetings around town. But my work life seems to go in cycles. I remember that the late ninties were similarly a lot of “in house” projects. Then I sort of launched into the field all of a sudden with my directing and acting projects of the last decade. January 7th, 2009storiesThis is the first part of the new “What happened to…”-Series, which will be published at irregular intervals, meaning whenever I find an interesting story about an almost forgotten Star and his present situation.
Our first article will be dedicated to Wil Wheaton aka Wesley Crusher from Star Trek: The next Generation.
We’ve known Wil as the annoyingly smart and eager son of ship’s doctor Beverly Crusher. Many times he proved his braveness as well as his bad taste in fashion. But what is going on with Wil now? He is a professional geek!
Although he kept acting after TNG he took a quite interesting choice of work besides that: For some time he worked in a company developing Commodore Amiga software and became one of the first bloggers. He now maintains his own blog as well as he is writing for several other blogs or magazines (inter alia about RPG) and publishing long versions of his blog entries as books.Well done, Wesley!
